Daniël Kieft (Amsterdam, 1981) studied Theatre Studies at the University of Amsterdam (propedeutic year in 2003) and Arts, Culture and Media at the University of Groningen (Bachelor's degree in 2006 and Master's degree in 2008). In addition to his studies, he held various board positions and, together with Corine Overvest, won an arts grant with which he funded the theatre production Race/Environment/Moment, about the malleability of life for the millennial generation. He interned with the theater company The Wooster Group and theater maker Richard Maxwell in New York. After graduating, he worked as a production assistant at the Holland Festival and then started in the programming department of the Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam (now the International Theater Amsterdam), where he later became responsible for contextual programming. He created in-depth programs for festivals such as the Brandhaardenformat, Lieve Stad, specials (including with Theater Oostpool, NITE, Mugmetdegoudentand, Wunderbaum, and De Warme Winkel), and did editorial work (including for A Lifetime of Theater, An Evening with). Daniël also served on the programming team of the Hongerige Wolf Festival and in various juries (including the ITS Festival). He was the initiator of Platform Ludlum, an action group consisting of theater makers and arts professionals who, during Halbe Zijlstra's budget cuts, organized a 12-day Kunstwake (Art Vigil) in front of the entrance to the House of Representatives. He also travels throughout the country and abroad to see performances. Since the end of 2018, he has been working as a freelance program maker, programmer, and curator, including for Theater Oostpool, ITA, and as head of programming/curator of theater and dance at We Are Public. He also serves on the supervisory board of theater maker Karina Kroft and on the board of the artist's foundation Siba Sahabi.
